The CARMEL ALERT  May 27th  2011A compilation of news reports from the past week for the information of those committed to praying
for the Restoration of Israel & the Jewish People
whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, "yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven."
This is just one verse of a selection that speaks of a shaking to come. Some people see the shaking as the coming seven year tribulation. While in total contrast others, (including  myself) , see it as a present shaking to awaken God’s people across the earth. And that would include both believing Israel and the Church. But even wider it will bring unbelieving Israel and many weak gentile church people and the unsaved to a renewal or new level of faith and experience in Yeshua Messiah.

In recent years there have been significant, Earthquakes, Floods, Hurricanes, Droughts and other natural disasters. It is as Yeshua said in Mathew 24.22  the summer is near and we should acknowledge the signs.  There is an increasing anxiety that the riots in the Middle East are the harbinger of the Muslim Brother hood taking over all the nations, then to make worldwide Jihad  destroying America and Israel. However the end times are not in the hand of Islam, antichrist or the politicians. They are in the hand of The Father who spoke through the prophets in the Old Testament and in the Hands of Yeshua who gave the details clearly in the New Testament.  While it is challenging to make sense of events at present or to know which way they will turn for democracy or for Sharia Law. We do not need to rush to either conclusion. That  any new democracy will give worldwide peace and Islam will be de-radicalised. Or that  an new Islamic empire will soon be destroying the world.   (although that may in some degree, come finally with Armageddon).

Some TV presentations are raising fear by reporting on Iran and their plans to unmask the Madhi. Islam’s teachings or the interpretations thereof; are however not our guide to the future. And we should not be allowing some “church prophecy teachers” to over influence our anxieties. Jesus warned of not heeding false messiahs that may be in the “desert place” (Mathew 24.26) ie. where Islam has its’ sway.

There is an alternative. The Lord God is in control of the natural disasters, the economic woes and the riots. These things He will have been aware of beforehand and are His means to get our attention.  When all else seems to be crumbling and we turn to Him, He will restore all things and bring a worldwide Holy Spirit Renewal or Revival. Then  Mathew 24.14 can be fulfilled before “the end comes”. And Acts 3.21 the restoration of all things will have been accomplished.

If democracy does not satisfy the Middle Eastern rioters, or fails to be fully achieved, Could it be that the Lord is preparing them to turn somewhere else, that being to the Gospel and Himself ? That is where the real future answers lie.  In the mean time it may get scary;  Luke 21:26  “men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken”.

Israel has been restored to the Land of Promise not to be destroyed, but to be restored to spiritual faith and relationship with their God. As borne out by another shaking verse.
Joe 3:16  The LORD also will roar from Zion, And utter His voice from Jerusalem; The heavens  and earth will shake; But the LORD will be a shelter for His people, And the strength of the children of Israel.
The Lord bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on the land given to the Jewish people by the God of Israel.  Lets pray that Israel will turn back to their God.  Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for that breakthrough to the Muslims,  and please remember to pray for all of the soldiers in the IDF -they are defending and fighting for the Kingdom of God.
Shabbat Shalom .... David & Josie
THIS WEEKS NEWS REPORTS
1. Israeli Cabinet Supports PM Netanyahu's Rejection of Obama's Speech    Ha Arz News  May 22nd      After two days packed with meetings and peaking with his confrontation with President Barack Obama, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has emerged stronger within Likud and became a uniting force for the Israeli right.  Netanyahu's adamant rejection of Obama's "1967 borders" speech restored calm to the right-wing coalition he heads; even the leftmost pole of his government, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, sent him a message of support Saturday.  "I don't think that the president's speech was such a bad thing," Barak said in an interview on Saturday with Israel's Channel 2 television news. "I think it's good that the prime minister brought attention to the fact that we expect the recognition of settlement blocs and that we want the refugees to be absorbed within the Palestinian state," Barak said.   "I don't think that the president said it was necessary to return to the 1967 lines, but rather that we need to start the discussion based on the 1967 borders," Barak said, stressing that the gaps between the United States and Israel on the peace process were smaller than they seemed. "[The Netanyahu-Obama meeting at the White House Friday] was a lot less dramatic than it appeared," Barak said. "I think the Americans know well the nuances of our positions."  Barak went on to explain that he is staying in the coalition as a guarantor for negotiations with the Palestinians.
The rightmost poles of Netanyahu's coalition government, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, Deputy Prime Minister Eli Yishai and Vice Prime Minister Moshe Ya'alon, saw to it that the political front remained calm.   "Israel cannot permit itself to return to the 1967 borders, which are indefensible, or to a process in which it is giving more territory to the Palestinians," Ya'alon said.   Deputy Foreign Minister Daniel Ayalon sounded a reassuring note Saturday. Like Barak, said he did not interpret the interchange between Obama and Netanyahu as a confrontation. "Obama's speech was positive for Israel, since he remained committed to Israel as a Jewish state and even demanded that the Palestinians explain the reconciliation agreement with Hamas," Ayalon said.  A senior source in Likud, speaking Saturday about the prime minister's right-wing coalition partners, said: "Netanyahu passed them on the right. No one can say he took a hard left. That's why no one on the right attacked him."
Please pray for continued national support for PM Netanyahu to encourage him to stand strong against the US pressure
2. Netanyahu's Speech  Red Lines    -  Ted Belman
1. Jerusalem will remain the undivided capital of Israel.
2. Israel won’t retreat to ’67 lines.
3. Israel must maintain a longterm presence on the Jordan.
4. Palestine must be demilitarized.
5. No right of return to Israel
6. Israel will keep all its settlement blocks around Jerusalem and Tel Aviv
7. Israel will evacuate some settlements
8. Fatah must blow off Hamas.
9. Abbas must accept Israel as a Jewish state

As for how much land we would give them for a state, he said he would be generous. But he made it clear that we are giving them part of our homeland rather than returning to them what is theirs. I had the feeling that he was intent on hanging on to much more land than his predecessors have tried to do. Especially when he said we will give them “part of the land”.    The speech was extremely well received by the audience.
Please pray that the Israeli people will stand firmly behind the PM
3. Colombia:  We Will Not Recognise Palestinian State       After suffering a series of diplomatic defeats to the Palestinians in Latin America, Israel won a rare victory on Wednesday when Colombia announced that it would not unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state.   Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos Calderón told a delegation of the World Jewish Congress in a meeting in the Colombian capital of Bogota that his governmentwould not recognize Palestinian statehood as "a matter of principle."   "We value your friendship and courage for Israel and the Jewish people," World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder said. "We also appreciate that you have withstood pressure from fellow Latin American leaders to prematurely recognize a Palestinian state."   In the past half year a string of Latin American countries, mostly with left-leaning governments, including Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Guyana have recognized Palestinian statehood. Chile, which has a right-leaning government, has also recognized Palestinian statehood with caveats.     Please pray that God will bless Colombia for this decision
4.  US Congress Sides With Netanyahu Over Obama's Speech    Israel Today News   May 24th    Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech before the US Congress on Tuesday was seen by most Israelis as a resounding success, and as a rejection of President Barack Obama's policy speeches over the previous few days.   Speaking before a joint gathering of the House of Representatives and Senate, Netanyahu reiterated that Israel will not return to its 1967 borders, as Obama had insisted it must do for the sake of peace. The Israeli leader also adamantly restated Israel's position that Jerusalem must not be divided.   Netanyahu's strong statements won no fewer than 29 rounds of applause (26 of them standing ovations) from the lawmakers, despite the fact that he was seen to be defying the Americans' own president.
Israel found support in resisting US President Barack Obama's dangerous peace policies not only in the US Congress, but also in America's northern neighbor, Canada.  On Monday, Canadian officials told Ottawa's Globe and Mail newspaper that Obama's adoption of the Arab position that peace must be based on the 1967 borders was out of place.  "Both the Israelis and the Palestinians have to decide on their bottom lines, which the Israelis have said will not include a return to the 1967 border," one official said.
Please pray that more nations will turn to stand in defense of Israel
5.  Egypt Opens Rafah Crossing   ICEJ News  May 26th    Israeli Vice Premier Silvan Shalom spoke out on Thursday against the opening of the Rafah crossing from Gaza into Egypt, calling for international supervision of the crossing.  "This is a dangerous development that could lead to weapons and al-Qaida smuggling into Gaza," Shalom said.   Homeland Security Minister Matan Vilna'i also warned that the opening of the Rafah will be ve Corssingry problematic for Israel.  However, he added in an interview with Israel Radio, that Egypt did not break any agreements with Israel. Hamas welcomed Egypt's decision to permanently open the crossing from Gaza into Egypt.   "This decision reflects the spirit of revolution in Egypt and the depth of brotherhood between the Palestinian people and the Egyptian people, which has returned itself to its original role in the Palestinian matter," a statement released by Hamas read.   Egypt announced on Wednesday that it plans to open its border with the Gaza Strip "on a daily basis" to "ease entry restrictions for Palestinians."   Under former president Mubarak, Egypt only sporadically opened up the Rafah border crossing for food and medicine, or to let through people, mainly those seeking medical treatment or traveling to study.  "Egyptian authorities have decided to extend the working hours at the Rafah border crossing starting from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on a daily basis, except for Fridays and official holidays, starting on Saturday, May 28," Egyptian news agency MENA said.  It said the decision came as "part of Egyptian efforts to end divisions among Palestinians and to finalize their reconciliation."  Please pray that angels will patrol the Rafah crossing if no-one else does
6. Poll Shows Israelis Supportive of Netanyahu   ICEJ News   May 27th    A poll published by the Left-wing Haaretz newspaper on Thursday shows that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is returning to Israel after his visit to Washington in excellent political shape, enjoying high approval ratings from Israelis. The poll also showed that most Israelis felt "pride" while watching Netanyahu address the US Congress on Tuesday, as well as showing that most Israelis have a favorable opinion of US President Barak Obama and do not believe that the tension between the two leaders will cause long term damage to the Israel-US relationshipPlease pray that the Lord will continue to direct the son of is right hand  -  Benjamin Netanyahu
Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz signed an agreement on Monday approving the construction and operation of a new desalination facility near Ashdod, which upon completion will make Israel's domestic water consumption 65% reliant on desalinated sources. The $400 million project will be one of the world's largest desalination plants and is to be ready in 2013.
