More bad news for motorists, the petrol price is set to increase even further next week.
The Automobile Association (AA) said a litre will cost no less than 20 cents more while diesel is expected to rise by around 14 cents.
Economist Chris Hart said this will be felt in other parts of the economy.
"We have been quite lucky in the sense that the rand-dollar exchange rate has been strong and this has mitigated the increase to some extent," said Hart.
